Confused & Frustrated!
I've been using DIVI for a very long time and Elegent Themes theme templates before that and have built many websites for friends, hobbies and our business over the years; I currently have 10. I have put off switching to DIVI 5 until recently when I needed to build a new website from scratch for a project I'm working on and it seemed an appropriate time to learn DIVI 5. Around the same time I became aware of SiteKrafter and not long after purchased KrafterPro lifetime deal so I could eventually use it on all my sites. However, since then I am drastically falling out of love with the product. It's like everytime there's an update it feels like I have to start again. I understand that presets have to be named differently each time etc but as a non-pro-designer I'm getting really confused. Do I start from scratch each time, as per Mak's videos, in which case do I then have to go into every module, column, row, etc and redo all the settings once installed? If I don't and select merge I end up with even more presets than before but often duplicate but with a different name making it bulky and more confusing with each update! I suspect I'm missing something but can't fathom out what? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I still haven't finished my new website as everytime I go to work on it something has changed and I feel like I'm going round in circles. I'm getting to the stage of ditching KrafterPro, and if I could get my money back I would! :'(
Shame really as it has such potential!
Many of us are in the same boat... There needs to be a way to keep updating the KrafterPro Design System on sites that are already using it, without having to redo a lot of work. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of having and using a design system... which is to save time, and streamline the design and maintenance process, especially for those of us who design and manage multiple client websites.
Randal Birkey Thank you, it's good to know I'm not alone.
Randal Birkey There is already a way. The updates are automatically pushed to the plugin just like any other WordPress plugin. You do not need to redo anything.
@funnelstoincome Not so with my update. Seems I don't ever get a response when asking Mak a question.
Mak, I think there is a misunderstanding. If one has already built a site using previous versions of KrafterPro, the newer versions have different names for the presets and variables. There is no easy way to update an entire site with the newer names... Other than manually going through an entire site. That is what Michelle is facing.
Randal Birkey Totally with you Randal. I am having the same problem. If I overwrite my krafter pro old jason file, I end up loosing my site completely. I have to reshape all section... Very long process.
If I use the merge set up... I'm stuck with all kinds of presets that are duplicated or lost. I would absolutely love to be clear on a simple process to upgrade to the last version without having to redo everything... Any subjections, let me know
Totally with you Michelle. I'm living exactly the same thing and since I am not a pro with wordpress, not wishing to become that, I'm still looking at it from a user perspective. Right now, I it not a valid solution if there is not a clear and easy way to have one set up that ensure the site will not be disrupted to the point of spending hours putting in back to where it was, clean extra presets without being clear about how to proceed and not knowing if we will live the same pain in every update.
Although, I am positive that we are getting close to something of great value, right now it sucks. (only for the lack of clarity on how to make it work properly).
Thank you to every one for bringing your attention to something that is more important than developing extras for the plugin without fixing what really matters (Core functionality) The rest is irrelevant at this moment.
@funnelstoincome hi mak, this is the same problem faced by many of us, its been asked and commented on many many times across the community, i'm sure you are aware of it. Even if there is no EASY answer, just hearing the truth plainly spelled out from you would be very useful, ignoring it is just making it worse and causing threads similar to this to pop up every day
