SiteKrafter vs Krafter Question

I had to set aside my work with Divi 5 for almost two months and today I viewed Mak's video on Krafter 1.5. It looks fantastic, but I need to get up to speed on where things stand between SiteKrafter and Krafter.
I have been rebuilding my company website with the SiteKrafter theme, which was class-based. Krafter apparently uses a very different approach, based on presets. It certainly appears to be far less complicated than what we had to do with Divi 5 classes.
What is the optimal way to transition a site from the SiteKrafter theme to the Krafter preset system? Does Krafter simply act as an overlay for the SiteKrafter theme, or do you start over and rebuild a site with Krafter and a generic child theme?
