Thinking about converting your Divi 4 website to Divi 5? Before you click the migration button, there are a few things you need to understand.

Divi 5 is faster, more powerful and packed with features such as variables, Flexbox, CSS Grid and presets. But the workflow is completely different from the way most people built websites in Divi 4.

In this video, I explain why moving from Divi 4 to Divi 5 may be closer to a complete redesign than a simple conversion.

You’ll discover:

✅ Why the Divi 4 design workflow no longer works

✅ What happens to your layouts after migration

✅ Why some third-party plugins may cause compatibility problems

✅ Why Flexbox and Grid may need to be added manually

✅ Why variables should be created before you start designing

✅ Why presets are essential for building consistently in Divi 5

✅ How a proper design system can save hours of repetitive work

✅ What I learned from converting real Divi 4 websites If you continue designing every module individually, Divi 5 can quickly become frustrating and difficult to manage.

The better approach is to build with variables, presets and a repeatable design system from the beginning.

Quick update after LIVE Q&A

The live session this afternoon was really useful. Thank Mak.

Hello everyone,

I’m a Krafter Pro user and I’m currently a bit confused. I hope someone can help me out.

In Mak’s latest videos, where he installs the Krafter Pro plugin, he then imports the Divi Design System using the import function. In that folder, there are two files:

DDS Preset.json
DDS Variable.json

My problem is: I can’t find these files in my download area. There, I can only download the Krafter Pro plugin itself.

However, when I go to “Downloads” inside the plugin, I can download the following files:

KrafterPro-Design-System.json
KrafterPro_ThemeBuilder.json

So my question is:

Is the file KrafterPro-Design-System.json basically the same as the two files DDS Preset.json and DDS Variable.json? Are presets and variables combined in this one file?

And if so, where exactly should I import the KrafterPro-Design-System.json — under Presets or under Variables?

Also, why are there different file names and different workflows between the videos and the current download area?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Join me on a Live Q&A show This Thursday.

Hi everyone,

A few days ago, I had a conversation with one of our community members, Nomand.

If you haven’t watched that video yet, I really recommend checking it out, because something important came out of that conversation.

It became clear that I need to communicate more directly with you — not just through videos, courses, and updates, but in a more personal and practical way.

So this Thursday, I’m hosting a live Divi University workshop.

This will be a chance for us to talk, answer questions, and work through real issues together.

If you have questions about Divi 5, KrafterPRO, Divi University, or anything you feel has not been answered properly, please write them down and bring them to the session.

I will also allow screen sharing, so if you are stuck on something, you can show me what is happening and we can look at it together.

The goal of Divi University has always been simple:

I want you to grow, build better websites, and actually use the products, tools, and training you have access to.

So this is not just another livestream.

This is the start of something I hope we can do more often — a live space where we can talk, solve problems, and help each other move forward.

The first live workshop is happening this Thursday.

Every video that I watch shows a different number of presets and variables. With so many versions and conflicting steps, I want to ensure that I have the correct number and no extra fluff. Thanks!

Please watch and let me know what you think.

In this video, I convert a real Divi 4 website to Divi 5 and show you why migration alone is not enough.

You’ll see the full workflow: backing up the website, activating Divi 5, running the migrator, installing KrafterPRO, importing a design system, updating the hero section, improving the services layout, and replacing old manual styles with modern fluid typography and spacing.

If you are a freelancer, agency owner, or Divi user preparing for Divi 5, this walkthrough will show you how to approach a real website conversion properly.

In this video I convert one of our community members website from Divi 4 to Divi 5 and I realised that it's not that straight forward. Please watch the full video.
